It has been reported that New Jersey Senator Ray Lesniak reintroduced his amended intrastate online gaming bill on Thursday, August 25

.

In an interview with pokernews.com, Senator Lesniak stated that he hoped New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who vetoed the initial version of the bill, now realizes that the piece of legislation (S-3019) can be beneficial to the state horse racing industry, which recently lost Perretti Farms, its largest breeding nursery.

"I'm hoping that the governor will realize what is happening to the (horse-racing) industry by him not supporting any subsidies online gaming can provide," Lesniak was quoted as saying. "I'm hoping the governor will reassess his position, and that Republican representatives from that area will help him change his mind. I think the opportunity is here to get together and change his view."

The report has also quoted Lesniak as saying, "It's not going to be a long road, but we're just not sure where it leads. We'll put the bill back on his desk before the end of the year, and hopefully by that time we'll have changed his mind."

In other New Jersey news, the Daily Racing Form has reported that the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association of New Jersey has appealed Governor Christie's decision to kibosh the distribution of $15 million in subsidies to the state's standardbred and thoroughbred racing industries.
