Hart: "She’s A Class Act"
After capturing the $363,900 Sweetheart final last weekend at Meadowlands Racetrack, Pirouette Hanover remains a top threat for trainer Ed Hart in the Shes A Great Lady Stakes
. Two eliminations will be held Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack, with the top five finishers from each advancing to the $675,000 final on September 3.
Pirouette Hanover won the Sweetheart from post 10 by a head over favourite Handsoffmycookie in 1:51.3 on August 20. The daughter of Western Ideal-Paulas Best is the second-fastest two-year-old filly this season and has earned $299,212 for owner Jeffrey Snyder. She has won three of six starts, including the New Jersey Sire Stakes championship.
“We took her blood [Tuesday] and everything seems great,” Hart said. “She will ship out either Wednesday or Thursday and we’ll have her ready to go for Saturday.”
Hart, who has already campaigned three-year-old colt pacer Roll With Joe to victories in the Meadowlands Pace and Battle of the Brandywine, and more than $1.3 million in earnings this season, knows when he has a special horse.
“She’s a true professional and you can see it right away,” he said. “Her manners are flawless and she’s a class act.”
Despite having one of the top young pacing fillies on the continent, Hart admitted he has an eye on his competition.
“American Jewel,” Hart said right away when speaking about Pirouette Hanover’s rivals. “She was ultra-impressive the other night at Mohawk and she’s a big threat.”
A winner of all four of her starts, American Jewel is the fastest two-year-old filly pacer this season, with a 1:51 victory at the Meadowlands on August 5. She is coming off a four-length win in a division of the Eternal Camnation at Mohawk last weekend.
