Sir Caviar Hangs On For Preferred Win
Despite fronting a brutal opening quarter in :26.3, Sir Caviar had just enough left to capture Friday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows
, his seventh win in 11 starts this year.
Sir Caviar dueled for the early lead with Our Rail Fantasy before pocketing that rival. When Our Rail Fantasy broke stride around the final turn, it gave Sir Caviar and Brian Zendt additional separation from the inside tier and helped them triumph in 1:54. Rembrandt Spur, bothered briefly by the breaker, closed well but fell a head short while Y Dat rallied for show.
Leslie Zendt trains Sir Caviar, a five-year-old son of SJs Caviar-Sierra Flower K and the track record-holder (1:53.1) for older geldings, and owns with Bill Zendt.
