Another Opinion Speaks Loudest
The red hot combination of owner-trainer Mark Anderson and driver Dean Magee continued their domination at Running Aces Wednesday, August 17 by capturing the $8,500 final of the Four Queens Series for pacing mares.
The duo clicked with Another Opinion, a three-year-old Kents On Nuke filly, who lowered her life's mark by two seconds with the 1:55.1 score over Kimmie Cam (driven by Joey Mapes) and Happy Surprise (John De Long).
It was the seventh victory in just nine lifetime starts for Another Opinion, who, according to a release from Running Aces, has a mind of her own while waiting in the paddock, but always has her act together once she approaches the gate.
One race later, the same Anderson-Magee owner-trainer-driver combination went wire-to-wire against the field of the $7,500 Open Mares Pace, as Real Suspicion got the job done with an impressive 1:53.4 mile. In victory, the five-year-old Life Sign mare also lowered her lifetime best clocking by almost two seconds. Real Suspicion, due to an outside post and a move up in class, was dispatched at odds of 17-1, despite hailing from the track’s top percentage barn and being piloted by the leading dash driver at the meet.
A $6,000 Open Trot was also presented on the card, where Big Baller (Tim Maier) overcame an overland journey to beat Catch K D (Dean Magee) and the heavily-favoured Rompaway Brandon (Dan Maier) in 1:57.3. Big Baller, a four-year-old son of Panama Hanover, is owned by the Desomer Stable.
