Tackoor: 'Hurrikane' Is "Freaky Fast"
Two-year-old pacers will converge on Mohawk Racetrack this Saturday evening for a heavily staked card. Three divisions of the Nassagaweya Stakes for pacing colts and two divisions of the Eternal Camnation Stakes for pacing fillies will
headline the program, as 45 of the continent's top juvenile pacers will be going head-to-head.
Hurrikane Kingcole, Canada’s fastest two-year-old this season, has a record of 1:51.3 taken at Mohawk Racetrack for trainer Des Tackoor and owners John Levy Racing Stable, Hurrikane Racing LLC, Jeffrey Kuhen and Mitchell Cohen.
The son of Cams Card Shark--Blazing Yankee will look to extend his current three-race win streak when he lines up behind the gate in the third division.
“He’s freaky fast,” Tackoor said. “He’s not the flashiest horse out there, but when you go a mile with him, you find out quick that he’s the real deal.”
Tackoor has been keeping an eye on the top colts coming up from the United States to prepare for the $1 million Metro Pace on September 3.
“I’ve been following the American horses and there’s a few that stand out,” he noted. “Obviously, I Fought Dalaw is impressive and so is Mel Mara, along with a few others."
Hurrikane Kingcole will face his toughest task to date this Saturday, something not lost on Tackoor.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend,” he said. “Everything seems to be good with him. He will train a little on Tuesday and we will get him as ready as we can have him.”
Hurrikane Kingcole was developed by John McDermott in New Jersey before he sent the freshmen pacer to Tackoor in preparation for the Metro, a contest the latter captured in 2000 with Pro Bono Best.
I Fought Dalaw will headline the first Nassagaweya division. The Sam DePinto trainee was victorious in all his four of his lifetime appearances.
The son of Western Ideal--In For Life has a lifetime mark of 1:50.4 taken in the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final at the Meadowlands. The bay has banked $111,600 already this season for driver Dave Miller and owners Shannon DePinto, Michael Parisi and Jerry and Theresa Silva.
In the first division of the Eternal Camnation, the Bob McIntosh-trained Shelliscape will put her undefeated record on the line when she goes postward.
The freshmen daughter of Artiscape-Shell I Scoot is a perfect five for five, which includes sweeping the Whenuwishuponastar Stakes at Mohawk, where she captured the $50,000 final in a career-best 1:52.
The brown miss has banked $60,500 in earnings so far this season for owners Robert McIntosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables, and DM Stables LLC.
