CDP Open To Saulsbrook Balance
For the second straight week, Saulsbrook Balance and driver Willie Murphy showed no mercy to the five foes they squared off with in the $1,500 Open Trot at Red Shores
Charlottetown.
Saulsbrook Balance went to the front and didn’t look back in the Thursday feature, and in doing so he notched the 33rd win of his 89-start career.
Murphy hustled the six-year-old son of Nikes Image-Animated Lady through panels of :29.2, :59.3 and 1:30.1 before tacking on a :29.2 final quarter just for good measure. He drew clear to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Just Dreamin Along in 1:59.3. Caliban Hanover grabbed the show dough.
The gelding has put together a 4-2-1 record from nine starts this season in addition to banking just over $4,000 for owners Cynthia MacDonald of Montague and Tanya MacKinnon of Souris, PEI. The trotter is quickly closing in on $74,000 in lifetime earnings.
The Thursday evening program at the half-mile oval also featured the first leg of the Alpine Claiming Series. The leg one winners in the fillies and mares divisions were Timeless Hanover (1:59.2) and Send Me An Angel (2:00) while the colts and geldings divisions went to Scotty Pooh (1:59) and Pan Cushion (1:57.4).
