NJSS 3YO Championships Drawn

Fresh from competition against the top pacers and trotters in North America, the leading New Jersey-sired three-year-old trotters and pacers will compete Saturday, August 13 at the Meadowlands Racetrack in four New Jersey Sire Stakes Night of Champions races worth a total of $700,000

in purses.

Among the finalists for the NJSS Premier Division Championships are Whiskey Tax (by Revenue S), who finished second in the $1.5 million Hambletonian, and Shadyshark Hanover (Cams Card Shark), who won a $102,750 division of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Pace in 1:47.4.

Whiskey Tax drew the rail for the $175,000 NJSS Championship for three-year-old trotting colts. Among his rivals are Hambletonian finalists Manofmanymissions (Yankee Glide), from Post 10, and Whit (Classic Photo) from Post 5.

Whit set a 1:52.4 NJSS record winning his preliminary leg. He erased the mark of 1:53.3 which had been shared by three horses (New York Yank, 2005; Operation Lindy, 2007; Muscle Massive, 2010).

Other preliminary leg winners in the NJSS Championship are VC Chocoholic (Chocolatier, in 1:54.4), from Post 3, Charlie De Vie (Yankee Glide, in 1:54) from Post 9, and Manofmanymissions (Yankee Glide, in 1:55) from Post 10.

Shadyshark Hanover, who will start from Post 8 in the $175,000 NJSS final for sophomore pacing colts, will face competition from High Noon (Western Ideal), from Post 2, who finished second in another division of the Holmes Pace, and NJSS preliminary leg winners Big Jim (Western Ideal, in 1:50.3) from Post 6, and Rockstar Temper (Rocknroll Hanover, in 1:50.2) from Post 1.

Three finalists, who did not earn purse money in the $750,000 Hambletonian Oaks, will be in the field for the $175,000 NJSS championship for three-year-old trotting fillies. They are Wincinnatti (Windsongs Legacy) from Post 3, Hey Mister (Muscles Yankee) from Post 4, and Sashay (Yankee Glide) from Post 5. The field also includes Tawesome More (Muscles Yankee), who won two NJSS trotting filly preliminary legs in 1:53.3 and 1:56.4. He will start from Post 9.

Other prelminary leg winners were Wincinnatti in 1:53.2, Hey Mister in 1:56 and Lost Symbol (Yankee Glide) in 1:56.

The field for the $175,000 NJSS championship for three-year-old pacing fillies will include Myluvmylife (Rocknroll Hanover), who was fourth in the $272,500 Mistletoe Shalee, in Post 5, and double preliminary NJSS winner Krispy Apple, 1:50.1 and 1:50.2, in Post 7. Her dam, Apple Krisp, holds the NJSS Premier Division sophomore filly pacing record of 1:49.4, a mark she set in 2004. A winner of one preliminary filly pacing event, Pretty Katherine (Rocknroll Hanover) in 1:50.4, drew Post 2 in the championship.
