Schnittker Steers Roll With Joe
On Thursday, July 28, Roll With Joe, the Meadowlands Pace winning son of Cams Card Shark, resurfaced for the first time since his monumental victory
in the $1-million classic.
The student of trainer Ed Hart was hosting a new mate in the driver's seat, as Ray Schnittker was steering the $1.1 million earner during the Meadowlands Racetrack's qualifying session, which also saw the return of John Campbell to the race bike.
Anxious onlookers had to wait until Race 14 to get a look at the Pace winner, as Schnittker and Roll With Joe paraded out onto the track for the third-last qualifying tilt of the morning.
Having started from Post 6 in the seven-horse field, Schnittker settled Roll With Joe into the pocket, as the pair allowed Fameous Western (driven by Dexter Dunn) to slice the opening fractions in a tepid :29.2 and :59.1.
Schnittker and Roll With Joe had enough after the opening half. The pair grabbed the lead and opened up more than two lengths by the three-quarters call (1:26.1) was met.
Having extended their lead to three lengths at the head of the lane, Roll With Joe and Schnittker capped off the mile by closing in :26.2 and posting a five and three-quarter-length win in 1:52.3.
