Trot Insider has learned that officials with Red Shores' Summerside Raceway have been forced to cancel the track's qualifying session and card of live racing scheduled for tonight (Wednesday, July 27)

The track has announced that the cancellations have come due to a major thunder and lightning storm in the area.

The heavy downpour caused damage to the track, which, in turn, caused unsafe track conditions.

The Prince County Horseman’s Club, along with the track committee, reached the decision to cancel at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Red Shores Summerside has received approval to run the cancelled Wednesday night card on Friday, July 29. First-race post time is 7:00 p.m.
