US HBPA: Don't Ban Lasix
Due to its effectiveness in treating Exercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage, the National Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association in the United States has announced that it is against a race-day ban on lasix, which bucks current industry trends
, according to a report.
“The National HBPA will continue to advocate that changes to the industry’s rules and regulations regarding medication be based on scientific fact, not opinions. That’s who we are,” National HPBA President Joe Santanna has been quoted as saying in an article by the Thoroughbred Times.
The report states that the HBPA is calling for more scientific evidence from industry leaders that are calling for a race-day medication ban.
