Quebec-bred Events On Tap
Some of the province's top horses will be on display this coming weekend at Hippodrome de Quebec. Fans will enjoy programs of live racing on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, which will feature colts, fillies and geldings take part in Quebec-bred Series
.
First off, Quebec's elite pacers will compete in two $15,000 finals on Saturday. Punters will again see Beach Runner AM, Hippodrome de Quebec's seasonal track-record holder, which will face off against Pieraz, Vagabond Angus and others. Beach Runner AM, a son of Beach Of Faith owned by Alain Martin of Trois-Rivieres, will be looking for a sixth win in a row with Mario Charron at the controls.
In the final for the mares, the focus will be on Sans Frontiere, who will face off against Petite Courageuse, Godiva Beachgirl and Zoes Turn.
The Saturday's program will be complemented by Quebec-bred Series eliminations for all three-year-old horses.
On Sunday afternoon, two-year-old pacing fillies and colts that distinguished themselves last week will have the opportunity to start for the big purses. Banner Brule, a daughter of Banner Yankee, has showed some talent with a triumph in 2:00.2; and Olives Way (by Shanghai Phil), Daniela Angel (Bolero Mozart) and Majo Ebony Janes (Dr No) will be in opposition.
As for the males, Somehowsomeway, a son of Shanghai Phil--Canaco Nuget, will attempt to repeat his elimination performance where he stopped the clock in 2:05.1 after a rain shower which made the track muddy track. His stablemate, Simply Dynamite (Shanghai Phil), and Reve Ki Pass (Bolero Mozart) will probably be his most serious opponents.
The Sunday card will also see two-year-old trotters and four and five-year-old trotters be present in special events.
