Donegal Gerald Delivers At Georgian

A solid group of seven pacers lined up in the $12,000 feature race at Georgian Downs on Tuesday evening, and Donegal Gerald rallied to take the checkered flag for driver Anthony Haughan in 1:53.1

.

Haughan was in no hurry with Donegal Gerald in the early going, but the same couldn’t be said for Primary Purpose and Part Shark who battled to the quarter pole in :26.2 before the latter moved to the lead. Part Shark zipped through middle fractions of :56.1 and 1:24 before tiring, and that left the door wide open for Donegal Gerald. The gelding swung off cover and used a :28.4 final frame to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Foolish Justice. Pacific Oak came on late to grab the third prize.

Dave Matson trains the seven-year-old son of Rambaran-Shes A Flyin for John Foran of Newmarket, ON, and together they’ve watched the veteran put together a 3-7-2 record from 15 trips to the track this season. The 30-time winner has banked more than $334,000 in his career.
