Lady Terror Matches KD Record
In addition to witnessing a Gold Series final for two-year-old trotting colts and gelding, fans at Kawartha Downs were treated to a track record-equaling performance and a set of Trot-A-Thon eliminations
on Thursday’s twelve-race card.
Lady Terror won her $9,000 assignment for driver Scott Zeron and trainer Andy McCabe in 1:52.4 on Thursday, and in doing so she matched the track record for older pacing mares. Her clocking was identical to the mile turned in by Casper on June 14, 2005.
The four-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Lady Arc now owns a 6-3-0 record from just 14 trips to the track this season. She is owned by Glenview Livestock Ltd of Wallenstein, ON. The lion’s share of the purse lifted her lifetime earnings to $87,400.
Later on the card, Stoic was a front-stepping winner in the first of two $8,000 eliminations of the Trot-A-Thon Series. The eight-year-old son of Basil prevailed by a one-length margin over CR Sky Flyer in the 1-1/4 miles event in a time of 2:31.2. Alltheway Abra was third.
Billy Davis, Jr. did the driving for Ed Peconi, Jr., who trains the gelding for Patricia Wall of Omemee and James Patrick Wall of Youngs Point, ON.
Chat Chat tracked cover and then muscled his way to the lead in the final strides for trainer/driver Per Henriksen en route to a 2:31.2 tally in her added distance assignment. The four-year-old daughter of Angus Hall got up to win by a quarter of a length over The Jolly Millar, with Secret Liz just a length back in third.
John and Catherine Morritt of Douro and ASA Farm of Norwood, ON share ownership on the mare, who delivered on her 6-5 pari-mutuel promise.
A group of nine will line up behind the starting gate for next Thursday’s $17,700 final.
