Five Wins Each For Barrieau, Trites
Md Hardlys Success capped off a five-win performance on Saturday afternoon for leading driver Gilles Barrieau with his pocket pulling score in the featured $1,475 Winners Over Pace at Exhibition Park Raceway
Md Hardlys Success followed pacesetter Real Bond through fractions of :31, 1:00.4 and 1:30.3 in the 12th race feature before kicking home in :29.2 to score the 2:00.1 triumph over the sloppy track. Real Bond (Robert Laffin) finished two lengths behind while Rakland Fine Line (Todd Trites) rounded out the top three, nearly 10 lengths in arrears.
Andrew Ward trains the five-year-old gelding, who notched his fourth consecutive victory and fifth of the season in 20 starts. Bill Smith and Wayne Watson of Saint John, N.B. share ownership of the bay son of Western Success-Hardly Easy.
Barrieau also picked up wins aboard The Power Of Grin, A Work Of Heart, Elm Grove Bandit and his own pupil Diamond Coast earlier on the 13-race card bringing his seasonal total to 45.
Todd Trites also scored five wins on the day with Howmacs Uptempo, Allbentouttashape, Ultimate Spirit, Magical Alex and Hustler Hall pushing his 2011 win total to 38.
