Rosecroft Awarded Conditional License

According to a report, Penn National Gaming was awarded a conditional license to operate programs of live harness racing at Maryland's Rosecroft Raceway earlier this week

.

An article by the Washington Examiner explains that the Maryland Racing Commission has imposed conditions on the license.

The conditions include that Penn National must guarantee the track’s operations through 2012. Also, Rosecroft must host 20 programs of live racing through the end of this year and 54 in 2012. If those conditions are accepted, racing can return to the track as soon as August 1, 2011.

"Still, we must develop a sustainable plan for the racing industry across Maryland and our work to find agreement with breeders, owners and track operators will continue in earnest in the weeks and months ahead," Maryland Labor Secretary Alexander M. Sanchez said via statement.
