Freshmen Set Marks At Meadows

A pair of freshmen vaulted to the head of their respective classes Tuesday at The Meadows by establishing national season’s marks in their career debuts

.

Robin Cruiser became the sport’s fastest freshman filly pacer on a five-eighths-mile track by roaring through the lane for Brian Zendt to erase a five-length deficit and score in 1:55. Bella Sophia was second, with Cruzin Tothe Dance third.

Tim Pinske trains Robin Cruiser, a daughter of Yankee Cruiser-Sportstalk, for Pinske Stables.

Moments later, Mr Ridgetaker launched his career with a sharp first-over victory in 1:58.4, making him this year’s fastest two-year-old colt on a five-eighths-mile track. Early leader Boytown was second, while Sweet Gypsy Lindy completed the ticket.

Trainer/driver Rick Beinhauer owns Mr Ridgetaker, a son of Tom Ridge-Miss Risktaker, with Regina Beinhauer.

In the $22,500 Preferred Trot, Rembrandt Spur had to be used several times in the mile, but the track’s all-age record-holder had plenty in reserve to blow past Superfast Stuart in the lane and defeat that rival in 1:55 for trainer/driver Dick Stillings and owner Roy Davis. Earls Glider raced well uncovered for show.

A five-year-old Pegasus Spur-Marty E gelding, Rembrandt Spur now boasts $384,028 in lifetime earnings.
