Racy Gal Hanover Doubles Up At GRR

Fresh off a track record equalling performance last week at Grand River Raceway, Racy Gal Hanover returned to the Elora oval for more

.

With Mario Baillargeon in the bike, the even-money favourite left from Post 5 in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace and carved out fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:27.1 before facing pressure from first over Exquisite Alberta (Trevor Henry), who also shares the track record for aged pacing mares. Digging in down the stretch, Racy Gal Hanover held that rival at bay to prevail in 1:54.4 by one length. Exquisite Alberta stayed for second and pocket-sitter Jinglejanglejingle (J.R. Plante) finished third.

Ben Baillargeon trains the four-year-old Modern Art-Raptture Hanover mare, who is two-for-two at Grand River, for owners Santo Vena of Brampton and Nunzio Vena of Bolton, Ont. The win was her sixth in 21 seasonal starts and pushed her 2011 earnings to $73,170. The career winner of 11 races now boasts $188,527 in lifetime earnings.
