Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was found guilty of 17 corruption charges on Monday, June 27, three of which were related to the attempted shakedown of a state racetrack executive

.

A report by the Chicago Tribune explains that jurors in the case found Blagojevich guilty of wire fraud, attempted extortion, bribery and conspiracy and attempting to sell President Barak Obama's former Senate seat.

"Patti (Blagojevich's wife) and I obviously are very disappointed in the outcome," the former governor was quoted as saying after he was found guilty. "I, frankly, am stunned. There's not much left to say other than we want to get home to our little girls and talk to them and explain things to them and try to sort things out. And I'm sure we'll be seeing you."
