Turcotte Doubles In Baby To Boomer
Driver Justin Turcotte doubled up in the Baby To Boomer Pacing Series first leg, which opened with three $6,500 divisions Saturday night at Sudbury Downs
. The series is for five-year-olds and younger that are non-winners of one race or $7,500 (fillies and mares $10,000) lifetime as of May 28.
Artist List made up an 18 length deficit to win the first division in 2:00 flat over the "good" surface rated two seconds off for driver Justin Turcotte, a four-time winner on the card, and trainer Allan Hohner. Solar Partner finished half a length behind in second while Mondaynitepassion was third. The three-year-old Artiscape-Calista gelding, who notched his third consecutive win, is co-owned by John Craig of North York and William Cass of Milton, Ont.
Turcotte also reined home Lady Molly Beattie in the second split for trainer and owner Danielle Soulliere. The three-year-old The Panderosa-Luck Of The Art filly advanced to the lead from fourth past the half en route to her second career victory in 2:00.2. Goodguysalwayswin finished over two lengths back in second and Low Dress was third.
O Ts Attack won the final division by over four lengths in 1:58.1 for driver Paul MacLean and trainer France Maclean. Trojan Killean and Carly Hollywood were second and third. The five-year-old On The Attack-True Stunner gelding, who took control after the opening quarter and turned back a challenger from Cowgirls Whisper (David Dowling), is owned by Gerry Gauthier of Azilda, Ont. The win was his fourth lifetime.
