Cruisinart Completes Heffernan Triple
Cruisinart notched his fourth consecutive victory in the $1,000 Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs, capping off a Myles Heffernan training triple on Saturday afternoon in North Sydney, N.S.
Leaving from post position No. 2 in the feature event, Cruisinart and Northside's leading trainer-driver Myles Heffernan went straight to the front and didn't look back as they cruised past panels of :29.2, :58.4 and 1:28.4 en route to victory in 1:58 flat. The popular Real Artist-Yieldtotheprincess gelding held off Shes Got Appeal (Harold Leblanc Jr.) by a quarter length for his sixth win in eight starts this year. Woodmere Westerner (Greg Sparling) finished third off a pocket trip.
Johnny Heffernan owns the eight-year-old, who has won 28 races over the course of his career while banking $ 88,356.
Myles Heffernan also sent out seven-year-old Lisryan mare Carters Star, winner of her $1,000 Claiming Series division in the eighth race in 2:03.4, and eight-year-old Precious Bunny gelding Pure Bunny, who stopped the clock in 2:00.4 in his 11th race claiming-conditioning assignment.
