Sterling 'Sab' Hobbs Passes
Longtime owner, breeder, trainer and avid supporter of the standardbred racing industry Sterling 'Sab' Hobbs passed away on Tuesday, June 7 at the age of 81
.
Hobbs was also the former owner of H.I. Hobbs Feed Mill in Shawville, Quebec.
Sab is the beloved husband of Marian Schwartz; dear father of Jill (Hugh Tracy), the late Bob (Bronwen Heins), Bill (Kim Lemay) and the late Kelly (Peggy Cruickshank). He is the brother of Weldon (Meryl), the late Brent 'Joe' (Mary) and Ruth (Eason Russell).
Visitation took place on Thursday, June 9. A funeral will take place Friday, June 10 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Shawville abd will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment Village Cemetery.
Donations to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Pontiac Reception Centre Foundation, Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation-Dialysis Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Our condolences to the Hobbs family, they will be blessed with many great memories of a great husband, father and grandfather. Sab was always a gentlemen, quick to smile and reluctant to criticize. Sab and his father before him were great supporters of the community, hundreds of Shawville boys wore hockey sweaters donated by H.I. Hobbs & Sons over the years.

We have just lost a GREAT gentleman and horseman. May Sterling R.I.P. My family has known him for more than 50 years and I have wonderful memories of him. Some of the Shawville Driving Club Members, Brett and Bill Horner and Barry Murray have kept me up to date on his news in the past years.
