Nebupanezzar Rules In Gold Final
An absolutely dominant performance from Nebupanezzar and driver Steve Condren in the $120,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final for two-year-old pacing colts & geldings marked yet another track and Canadian record performance on Confederation Cup day at Flamboro Downs.
From post 3, Condren had the two-year-old son of No Pan Intended - Western Wonder on top for every call - :27.3, :56.2 and 1:25.2 - before easily sprinting home in :28.2 to crush the field by five lengths in 1:53.4 over Shady Cam (Jason Brewer) and Uncle Bill Mac (Paul MacDonell).
The mile time equals the divisional track and Canadian standard of Sir Luck, set back in 2002.
"He's a talent colt with high speed," said driver Condren after the victory. "He's been versatile, but today with the delay he was grabby but he settled past the half and kicked home good."
The homebred of Bob Glazer's Peter Pan Stable of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Nebupanezzar now sports a record four wins in five tries and over $160,000 in lifetime earnings.
