"I Compare Him To The Best I've Had"

After scoring the biggest victory in her career last year in the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, trainer Casie Coleman is looking for a repeat

.

The Cambridge, Ontario conditioner captured the 27th edition last year when Sportswriter wired his rivals in 1:48.3. Now, one year later, Coleman is hoping Betterthancheddar can pen a similar success story.

Most often, horses with limited starts in their three-year-old campaigns wouldn’t necessarily be a threat for the rich prize, but Coleman is optimistic that her student can steal the spotlight.

“I have some nice colts in the barn, but ‘Cheddar’ is just lightning fast and I don’t think I have a colt in my barn that can go with him. I compare him to the best colts I’ve ever had.”

The son of Bettors Delight - Lady Ashlee Ann has one win from two lifetime starts for West Wins Stable and Steve Calhoun and is rated at 55-1 in the Trot 2011 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book. Harness racing's richest race for three-year-olds is slated for June 18 at Mohawk Racetrack.

Betterthancheddar is scheduled to race Monday at Mohawk Racetrack in the sixth race. He will begin from post six for driver Brett Miller, who is subbing for the injured Mark MacDonald.
