Illinois Racino Bill Dies In Panel
According to a report, the bill which would have seen casino gaming implemented at Illinois racetracks failed on Wednesday, May 25 when it failed to pass a panel in the Illinois House
.
The Chicago Tribune has reported that the Lou Lang-sponsored legislation came up on the short end of a 6-5 vote. Lang reportedly wants to give the bill another shot.
According to the article, Lang stated that the reason for the bill's failure to reach the floor of the full House was because of provisions which would have mandated that a 'peace agreement' would have to be reached with organized labour.
The article explains that the provision was opposed by Arlington Park Racecourse, which is attempting to reach a compromise with food-service workers.
