Dal Reo Damsel Passes; Surrogate Mare Needed
Trot Insider has learned that the multiple stakes-winning mare Dal Reo Damsel died as a result of complications from foaling a Mister Big filly last week
.
The broodmare, who during her racing career assembled an 11-6-5 record from 33 starts while banking just shy of $160,000, had produced five foals prior to this year with the most prolific being the hard-hitting, Usher Hanover gelding Royal Morn (1:50.2 - $439.387).
The connections of Dal Reo Damsel, who was named the BC-bred Three-Year-Old Filly of the Year in 2002 and later the BC Broodmare of the Year in 2008, are searching for a surrogate mare that is lactating in order to tend to the orphaned, Mister Big filly.
Anyone who is willing to help is asked to call Ralph Therres, whose farm is located in Surrey, BC, at (604) 882-1232.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Dal Reo Damsel.
