Group Brings In New Owners
Small ownership groups and bigger syndicates have proven to be a great way to introduce new owners to the joys of horse racing ownership. Just ask Stefan DeCourcey, Rob Kitchen and Ron Fowlie
.
As a story by The Daily Gleaner explains, the trio make up the principal owners of DGs Crosby, a six-year-old gelding which, in addition to DeCourcey Kitchen and Fowlie, has another 10 smaller-share owners.
"These type of groups are so much fun, because you never know who's going to pop into the barn to say hello or work with the horse," DeCourcey was quoted as saying.
The report explains that the rest of the ownership group came on board by word of mouth at the bar Kitchen owns and runs in Nackawic, Bobby's Rec Room.
"Within 48 hours, we had six people who had never been to a race before wanting to get in," said Kitchen. "We've got everything from teachers to retirees involved."
