Racehorse Jumps Into Crowd, Injures Seven
According to a report, on Thursday, May 5 at the Warrnambool Racecourse in Australia, seven people were injured when a loose horse leaped a metres-high fence into an unsuspecting crowd of racegoers that were taking in the track's Grand Annual Steeple race
.
An article by the Herald Sun explains that after losing its rider, the horse, Banna Strand, jumped a fence and ended up injuring a toddler, a teenager, and an 82-year-old women, among others.
"I didn't know what was going on, all of a sudden this thing was crashing on top of us," the article quoted injured spectator Leslie Burchall as saying.
The report explains that Banna Strand roamed the streets with a police car in pursuit before being found at the main public entrance some minutes later.
"It's never happened in 100 years," Racing Victoria Chief Executive Rob Hines was quoted as saying.
