Royal Becquet Loving 'The Fair'
WEGZ Stakes winner Royal Becquet returned to Western Fair Raceway on Wednesday night where his was victorious two weeks ago to capture another edition of the $15,000 Preferred Handicap Pace

Rebounding from an eighth-place finish in his most recent outing at Woodbine Racetrack, Royal Becquet shot out to a three length from a Post 7 start in the ninth race. The eight-year-old Yankee Cam-Steady Pebble gelding and driver Simon Allard hit the opening quarter mark in :27-seconds before facing heavy first over pressure in the form of Major Stone (Tony Kerwood). The pair faced off through middle splits of :56.4 and 1:25.1 with Royal Becquet winning the battle and pulling away as they headed into the stretch. The Rene Allard pupil pressed on to score in 1:53.4 by three-quarters of a length over pocket-sitter and 35-1 longshot Justalittleluck (Nick Steward) with 19-1 Major Stone three lengths in arrears.
Royal Becquet paid $17.60 to win for the third time in 11 seasonal starts. The winner 29 races lifetime and over $466,000 is co-owned by Michel Allard of Saint-Esprit and Nancy Lajeunesse of Quebec, Que.
