Up The Credit Cruises
Trainer Carl Jamieson has gone on the record saying he has high hopes for Up The Credit this season, and the son of Western Terror-Cantbuymehappiness kicked off his sophomore campaign with a sharp score at Woodbine Racetrack on Monday evening
.
The lightly-raced speedster, who is listed at 45-1 in the Trot 2011 North America Cup Spring Book, toyed with conditioned foes over a very wet Woodbine oval with driver Jody Jamieson in tow.
Up The Credit got away third and was rated along at his own clip behind Tribute To Gear, who threw down early fractions of :26.2 and :56 before coming under pressure from the pocket-sitting Grand Master around the final turn. Those two zipped past the three-quarter pole in 1:25.2, with Up The Credit winding up from second over. Jamieson put him in the centre of the track coming off the final turn and Up The Credit had no problem summoning up a :27.1 final quarter en route to the 2-1/2 lengths triumph in 1:53.1.
Carl Jamieson, Thomas Kyron, Brian Paquet and Joanne Morrison share ownership on Up The Credit, who was a two-time winner during last year's five-start campaign. The three-year-old colt took a sharp, rookie record of 1:51.4 in a leg of the Dream Maker Pacing Series, and was a lapped-on runner-up to the multiple award-winning Big Jim in the $50,000 final one week later.
