Six For Brennan At Yonkers
George Brennan put on a clinic at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday evening thanks to his six-win performance on the 12-race card
.
Yonkers' leading driver wasted no time. He won the $8,000, pacing opener, lasting on the lead with odds-on General Mcardle ($3.80) in 2:05.4 for the mile-and-one-sixteenth distance. He swept the $11 Daily Double when Keystone Torch ($7.70) held sway in the $12,000, second-race trot (2:05.4). After finishing second in the third race, Brennan was a pocket winner with Jimmy The Terror ($4.80) in Race 4 (2:04.2).
A longshot tour in the back of the fifth race was a temporary speed bump before Brennan was at it again. He won the $15,000 sixth-race trot with Distinct Victory ($9.30) in 2:05.3. Brennan tired to fifth in the seventh race, then faded to fourth in the eighth race. He rattled off consecutive wins in Races 9 ($15,000 pace) and 10 ($17,000 pace), taking the former with M D Bee Bee ($7.40) in 2:01.4 and the latter with S F Decathlon ($2.90) in 2:02.1.
Proving that not all his luck was good, Brennan broke early and often with the short-priced trotter Aachoo in Race 11, then was badly shuffled with the pacer Lightning Dragon in the finale. Lou Pena trained four of Brennan’s winners.
