Rideau Preferred To Inspired Art
Peenie was sent off as the odds-on choice in Thursday’s feature race at Rideau Carleton Raceway, but Inspired Art rained on that pacer’s parade thanks to a 1:54.2 score in the $13,000 Preferred
.
Inspired Art tucked into the three hole for trainer/driver Barry Treen while Peenie shot to early command and wheeled the field through first-half fractions of :27.3 and :57.2. Despite the comfortable tempo, Peenie had his hands full on the way to the three-quarter pole when Inspried Art made a bold bid from first over and pressed the leader past that marker in 1:25.3. Inspired Art generated a :28.4 final frame, and that was more than enough for him to win by a pair of lengths over Its a Good Thing in 1:54.2. Peenie faded to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 5-1, Inspired Art improved his 2011 record to 2-2-3 in 10 starts for the partnership of Tammy Lynn Turner, Annabelle De La Pena and Jack Thompson. The six-year-old son of Artiscape has stashed away $133,593 in lifetime earnings.
