Heather Moffett Runs For Mrs. Delaware
Heather Moffett, the award-winning host of the harness racing shows 'Post Time' and 'PA Harness Week,' will be competing for the title of Mrs. Delaware United States 2011 on June 12. The pageant will take place at the Schwartz Center in Dover, Delaware.
“As an on-air personality, I have been able to reach thousands of people,” explained Moffett, who won the People’s Choice Award and Best Interview in last year’s pageant. “Not only do I get a chance to promote standardbred racing, but I can also share my goals in community service. I am always looking for new ways to share my message and get others interested in volunteering. I’ve discovered that pageantry is a perfect fit for me.”
During the past year, Moffett has raised thousands of dollars and helped find homes for retired standardbreds in the Horse Lovers United program. She’s also put together an Alex’s Lemonade Stand/Locks of Love event, participated in a food drive for the SPCA, and collected enough money as the 2010 Mrs. Delaware United States People’s Choice winner to send seven children with autism to a special summer camp program.
Moffett plans to further her goal by recruiting more people to the importance of community service by working with Volunteer Delaware and promoting her platform - 'Volunteer: you’re always a winner when you put others first!'
“Taking home the Mrs. Delaware United States title would be an exciting outcome for me and my community,” said the Harrington, Delaware resident. “But it would also be a boost for a truly American family sport -- standardbred racing. I’ve been a voice for harness racing my entire life. Now, through pageantry, I am finding a new and wonderful way to expose my love for the sport to potential fans.”
Moffett is reaching out to those in racing who would like to help her achieve her goal through sponsorships and advertisements in the pageant program. You can contact her at [email protected].
