Friday Five Bagger For Battin
Driver Ross Battin was the one to beat on Friday night at Western Fair Raceway as he dominated the 12-race program guiding home five winners
.
Battin began his five bagger guiding Stephen Bossence's Oyster Bed Mary ($4.60) to her first win of the season in the third dash. Two races later, three-year-old Cash Hall trotter House Of Cash ($6.70) nosed out pacesetter Vesa T to earn his second career win in as many starts for trainer Mike Keeling. Battin wasted no time getting back to the winner's circle as he guided Hands Off My Lover ($3.60) to a four length victory in the very next race for trainer Dwain Spitzig. He later won the ninth race with the maiden-breaking John Pentland trainee, three-year-old Camluck colt Pisti ($3.10), and completed the night with another four length victory aboard Peter Christie's Frenchfrysncheese ($4.40).
Battin's five bagger pushed his win totals to 23 for 2011 and 4,701 lifetime. The resident of Monkton, Ont. has banked over $24.4 million in purses over the course of his career.
