Prison Term For Internet Horse Scammer
According to a report by The Press-Enterprise, a 32-year-old female, Trina Lee Kenney, has been handed a 41-month prison term and has been ordered to repay a total of $272,609.50 to 88 victims after being convicted of fraudulently selling sick and abused horses.
The article explains that Judge A. Howard Matz cited the large number of victims and Kenney's indifference to their plight in his ruling.
Kenney, who "broke their (buyers') hearts and stole their money" according to Matz, pleaded guilty to mail fraud in October 2010. She admitted to defrauding prospective horse purchasers in 23 states and Canada.
