PA Fairs Champ Debuts With Win
Filly Bay, last year’s divisional champion of the Pennsylvania Fairs, made a successful 2011 debut with a game victory in the Toms OK Lady Trot at the Meadows
on Wednesday, April 13.
Love U Overandover captured the other $15,000 opening-leg split in the series for three-year-old trotting fillies.
Filly Bay hadn’t raced since the October 16 fairs championship, but Randy Tharps sent her confidently to the lead. She dueled with the first-over A Fair Chance for the final three-eighths before defeating that rival by a head in a career-best 1:58.4. Cutie Pie finished third.
Bill Fahy trains Filly Bay, a daughter of Chip Chip Hooray--Accompaniment, for Moira Fahy.
Love U Overandover made a decisive quarter-pole move for driver Mike Wilder and went on to prevail by three and a half lengths in 1:58.2, thus shaving a tick from her lifetime mark. Ladys Night was second, with Sephora De Vie completing the ticket. John Duer trains the homebred daughter of Andover Hall--Love You Most for Peninsula Farm.
Dave Palone drove three winners — all for trainer Ron Burke — while Eric Ledford also enjoyed a driving triple on the 15-race card.
