Maryland Subsidy Bill Passes, With Strings

Late on Monday, April 11, legislators in Maryland gave the green light for millions in state capital to be directed to racetracks

.

According to an article on abc2news.com, with only minutes left in the General Assembly session, the Maryland House and Senate signed off on legislation which will see up to $6 million lent to Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park operator Maryland Jockey Club, and $1.2 million each to the owners of Rosecroft Raceway and Ocean Downs.

The arrangement is contingent on the Maryland Jockey Club and the operator of Rosecroft Raceway coming to an agreement on simulcasting.
