Sophomore Fillies Square Off In Simcoe
Fresh off a win in the SBOA Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies, it's no surprise that Im Just Special is rated the 6-5 morning line favourite going into tonight's $249,853 division of the Simcoe Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack.
The daughter of Camluck has been enjoying a stellar sophomore season. She has been off the board only twice in 17 starts and has bankrolled more than $300,000 for conditioner Tom Artandi and owners, Ted and Susan Colby of Bronxville, NY. Currently, she's sitting second in the rankings for the Ontario Sires Stakes in terms of both Gold points and money earned.
Im Just Special's most likely competition in the Simcoe is a filly named Stylish Artist, who recently captured the $407,400 Mistletoe Shalee Stakes at the Meadowlands for trainer/co-breeder Mark Steacy and owner Apryll Heffering. She has nabbed the inside post position tonight and may be a threat early on.
Catch the Simcoe Stakes tonight as part of a stakes-rich card that keeps the end-of-summer excitement rolling at Mohawk.
