Freehold’s Lederman Hospitalized
Freehold Raceway announcer Larry Lederman was hospitalized earlier this week after becoming ill this past Sunday, April 3
.
Reports indicate that after Lederman was checked into hospital and tests were performed, doctors found a small tumor on Lederman's brain. There is no definite timetable for his return to the announcing booth.
Known throughout harness racing for his humourous race calls, Lederman was the voice of Garden State Raceway before announcing at Freehold.
Those that would like to send cards can do so in care of the track’s race office at Freehold Raceway, P.O. Box 6669, Freehold, NJ 07728.
Best wishes for a speedy
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Makes the race call interesting better than anyone else~
Without a doubt the best
Without a doubt the best racecaller in the business,I used to go to the racetrack just to hear him and his goofy calls, probably what kept me coming so much, esp.when he was at GSP,heard him call a race one time there was a horse on the front end and he was real long on odds and Larry said he (forget the horses name),is gazillion to one but all six wheels are shaking, and probably my favorite was when the horse TULANE, was parked the whole mile he says it is TULANE i wonder if he took the wrong lane, then during the cane i think it was at the half he calls the horses names and then says oh yea the U.S.basketball team just won the bronze medal at the olympics, who cares, and then goes on with the race, what a class act.
What ever ails you I hope you a speedy return, we need more of you, maybe someday, there will never be your equal.
THANK YOU
Had the pleasure of working
Had the pleasure of working with Larry a few years back. A great guy and definitely one of the most unique race callers ever! Wishing you all the best for a complete recovery!
