PEI Equine Symposium Continues To Grow

Organizers have confirmed that the recent Prince Edward Island Equine Symposium held at Red Shores Charlottetown and the Charlottetown Civic Centre has set a new standard for overall attendance and trade show participation

.

The two-day event brought together horse owners and breeders of all sectors to hear high profile guest speakers such a Grand Circuit standardbred trainer George Teague, as well as numerous other veterinarians and horse trainers discuss horse health and management topics.

“Overall we had approximately 700 total attendees over the weekend package, which for the first time included the PEISHOA Awards Dinner, “stated PEISHOA Chair and Organizing Committee Member Tom Clark. “We feel that these types of numbers reflect a dynamic and growing horse industry within the province.”

A live demonstration area was also a new addition and was extremely well received according to initial participant survey results. The trade show component was double the inaugural year, and plans are to continue area for expansion for the 2012 event.

“The goal of the organizing committee is to stage an educational event which offers something for every horse owner,” stated Island Horse Council Chair and Organizing Committee Member Dr. Wendell Grasse. "We are very grateful for the commitment of the veterinary community from both Atlantic Veterinary College and private practices to be part of the weekend.”

A more detailed participant survey will distributed shortly to assist in planning for the 2012 symposium.
