Taylor Wishes The 'Buck I' Ride Never Ends
"I know I have to retire her someday, but I don't want to do it. It's my biggest fear."
Those are the words of Howard Taylor, in regard to the queen of the older trotting mare division, Buck I St Pat.
His quote has come via an article on him by Ken Weingartner for Patch.
Taylor, a 51-year-old co-owner of Buck I St Pat, was recently named Pennsylvania Owner of the Year by the Keystone Chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.
"My dad bought a horse when I was 12," Taylor was quoted as saying. "I used to go to the track and muck stalls and work around the horses. Every summer I got more involved. Then I started training. When I was 17 I got my (harness racing) driver's license. I actually had a thought about doing that for a living, but then I went to law school."
