ORC Rules On GCGC Appeal
The Ontario Horse Racing Commission has released its ruling in regard to the appeal of the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. The track operator's appeal was in regard to the terms and conditions of its
Licence to Operate a Racetrack, in this case Flamboro Downs and Georgian Downs.
Specifically, the GCGC was appealing the following terms and conditions:
Flamboro Downs
- 16) The association will cooperate with a financial examination of the company, its parent company and any of its associated or related companies for the purpose of determining or evaluating the financial condition of the association.
Georgian Downs
- 17) The association will cooperate with a financial examination of the company, its parent company and any of its associated or related companies for the purpose of determining or evaluating the financial condition of the association.
The ORC has denied the GCGC appeal.
The full explanation of the situation can be read in the official ORC release, which can be viewed here.

I think that Great Canadian
I think that Great Canadian Gaming has another option. If they truely cannot operate these two facilities profitably, SELL!
I am certain that there are other people / companies that can operate profitably, such as was the case prior to their purchase.
Maybe the horsmen could take over the businesses and operate as a Co-op.
Same here in bc. Nobody wins
Same here in bc. Nobody wins any appeals!
Don Patrick Surprise
Don Patrick
Surprise surprise. Once again, you get to appeal to the very same people who denied your original request. And they ruled in favour of themselves.
When will Ontario racing ever give their people some actual due process?
