Mystic Maiden Repeats In Mares Open
During last year’s sophomore season Mystic Maiden was nearly perfect thanks to a 15-for-17 record, and it’s been more of the same this year
for the daughter of Camystic this year. The Justin Currie trainee has flirted with perfection in a number of ways, but since joining the Lasix program she has been perfect.
Mystic Maiden turned in a career-best clocking of 1:53.1 in winning Sunday’s $12,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs with driver Dave Hudon in tow. She sat third to the quarter pole before brushing to the top and going the distance. She used a :29-second final frame to win by a neck over With Bells On. Rossridge Fortune rounded out the top three finishers in the five-mare affair.
Barry MacFarlane of Powell River and Crimson Racing Stable of Langley, BC share ownership on the 24-time winner who has banked $207,125 to date.
