New Policies For PA Harness Breeders Fund
The Pennsylvania Standardbred Breeders Development Fund has announced two changes in its operating procedures concerning award payments
:
- The deadline for registering mares bred to Pennsylvania stallions to spend 180 contiguous days, including foaling, in the state during 2011, thus becoming “resident mares” for Breeders Fund purposes, has been extended to Thursday, March 31 (postmark for paperwork, or for electronic transmission). There will be no further extensions, and this March 31 extension will apply to mares with 2011 foals only.
- New policies concerning “non-resident mares” will be implemented as follows:
- Non-resident PA-sired foals of 2007 will be paid as 4YOs in non-resident status;
- Non-resident PA-sired foals of 2008 will be paid as 3YOs & 4YOs in non-resident status;
- Non-resident PA-sired foals of 2009 will be paid as 2YOs, 3YOs, & 4YOs in non-resident status;
- Non-resident PA-sired foals of 2010 will be paid as 2YOs & 3YOs in non-resident status.
PA-sired foals of 2011 and subsequent years will have to meet 'residency status' in order to earn Pennsylvania Harness Breeders Awards.
