The Saturday morning slate of qualifiers at the Meadowlands featured familiar names signaling that the stakes season for harness racing's older competitors cannot be far away

.

Two-time O'Brien Award winner and double millionaire Arch Madness made his first appearance since a disappointing ninth place finish in his Maple Leaf Trot elimination. In rein to trainer Trond Smedshammer, Arch Madness was a going away winner by more than seven lengths in 1:56.1. Marc Goldberg and Willow Pond LLC own Arch Madness, the fastest trotter in harness racing history over a five-eighths mile track by virtue of his 1:51 mile at Mohegan Sun Pocono last May.

Pacing powerhouse Foiled Again also made his 2011 debut, uncorking a fierce :26 closing quarter to nose out Not Enough in a brisk 1:52.3 mile. Yannick Gingras was in the bike for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, JJK Stables.

Burke also sent out pacing mares Ginger And Fred and On The Glass, each qualifying for the second time this season. On The Glass finished a head behind Lisagain in 1:54, while Ginger And Fred was victorious in 1:52.2. Finishing second to Ginger And Fred was 2007 Berrys Creek winner Wearable Art, who was making his return to the track after limited stud duty in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
