Big Day At Fraser Downs For Masse
The Friday program at Fraser Downs belonged to trainer/driver Serge Masse, who clicked for a four-win performance including a going away victory in the $25,000 Keith Linton Memorial Final with Theseyesrcrying
.
Masse, who also scored with Rockintrentin (1:57.2), Straightfromtheheart (1:59.3) and Red Star Zoro (1:54.4), tucked Theseyesrcrying into the two-hole and proceeded to enjoy a ground-saving journey behind a variety of leaders.
Branding Party threw down the opening panel in :28.3 before giving way to Boom Shazam shortly past the mid-way point in :57.3. Masse had Theseyesrcrying up and driving as the field toured the backstretch, and the three-year-old son of Mach Three-Star Magic led the group past the three-quarter pole in 1:25.3. The ridgling used a :29.3 final frame to win by a pair of lengths over Branding Party in a career-best clocking of 1:55.1. Third prize went to Limit The Risk.
Sent off as a 5-1 outsider in the five-horse affair, Theseyesrcrying improved her 2011 record to 2-1-1 in six starts while pushing her lifetime earnings to $24,400 for Masse and partner James Vinnell, Langley, BC.
Later on the card, Kiss My Cam extended his winning streak to four-in-a-row for trainer/driver Ed Hensley. Sent off as the 1-2 favourite in the $12,500 Open Pace, Kiss My Cam was parked beyond the quarter pole in a :27-second clip before being released to the lead. Once in command of the tempo, Kiss My Cam ripped through middle splits of :55 and 1:23.1 before tacking on a :29.2 final frame for good measure. The 1:52.3 performance was good enough to beat runner-up Cash Account by nearly two lengths, with Cowboy Hanover rounding out the top three finishers.
J J J Stables of Aldergrove, BC and Hensley of Blaine, WA share ownership on the seven-year-old who is now 4-for-7 this season. To date, the performer has racked up 21 lifetime wins and more than $150,000 in lifetime earnings.
