Groovie Day Arrives In Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan Standardbred Horesmen's Association has announced that Groovie Day has just landed in the province for stud duty
.
“He’s by far the fastest sire to ever stand in Saskatchewan,” said SSHA President Glenn Le Drew. “We are very lucky to have him. This horse is the fastest and richest son of Gothic Dream with earnings over $585,000 and a life mark of 1:49.”
Groovie Day carried high speed and was very good on a half-mile track, "which works well for us since most of our racing in the province is on a half," Le Drew explained.
Groovie Day won his very first three starts he ever raced over a half-mile course. He was a fast learner, as he won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold final from Post 8 in just his second lifetime start. He was absolutely dominating when he won the $200,000 Battle of Waterloo by five lengths as a two year old.
"We are trying to get a Saskatchewan Sires Stakes program going again and this is a big step forward," said Le Drew. "Last year we landed Arts Card Shark, son of the great Artsplace (p4, 1:49.2, $3,085,083). These are great lines to get the breeding going again. We have the funding and a committee in place and this is just a great way to help get it started."
Groovie Day has arrived and is open for business. Arrangements can be made by contacting Andrew Stewart at 306-723-4775.
