Handsome Prince Takes Meadows Preferred

Handsome Prince powered to the lead, backed down the second quarter and blazed home to score convincingly in Monday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows

After Handsome Prince controlled the opening quarter in :27.1, Dave Palone gave him a :29.3 breather in the second panel. The six-year-old Grinfromeartoear-Nova Princess gelding ripped off the back half in :55.4 over a track listed “good,” leaving his competition scrambling for minor awards. He scored in 1:52.3, winning by 3-1/4 lengths over Justice Cam. Star Party finished third.

Ron Burke trains Handsome Prince, who now boasts $274,829 in career earnings for Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable LLC.

Palone and Brett Miller each drove three winners on the 14-race card.
