Jan. T-Bred Betting Figures In The U.S. Down

According to numbers released by Equibase, wagering on thoroughbred racing in the United States in January was down 9.71 per cent from the same month in 2010

An article by The Courier-Journal states that the decrease came during a time where purses ($64.1 million) were up .78 per cent from January 2010.

The report explains that betting totalled $827.9 million, and that the 9.71 per cent decrease exceeded the 4.62 per cent drop in the number of race days for the month.
