NYS Racinos Continue To Speak Out
If you thought that representatives from New York State racinos were going to simmer down regarding their outrage against the Indian casino proposed for the Catskills you would be very wrong. If anything, the racino reps are turning up the temperature
.
"It was a shock to the industry that the previous governor, in the final days of his administration, in great secrecy and without consultation with relevant government bodies… signed a compact with the Wisconsin Stockbridge-Munsee tribe," said Michael Speller, spokesman for Resorts World New York, the company which is developing a large racino at Aqueduct in New York City.
According to a report by NBC affiliate News Channel 13, Speller's quote is similar to the tip of an iceberg.
Charlie Degliomini, executive VP of Empire Resorts, which operates Monticello Raceway, also spoke on the matter, saying, "The advantages afforded to the Wisconsin tribe are akin to putting a golden glove boxer -- for the record, that would be us -- into a ring with one arm tied behind our back, blindfolded, against the WBC heavyweight champ and then expect that there would be a fair fight."
