Victor Gould Passes

Trot Insider has learned that horseman Victor 'Vic' Gould, a member of the Ontario Harness Horse Association and former Ontario Racing Commission judge, has passed

away at the age of 75.

Gould began his career at CCM while training standardbred for his grandfather, Vernon W. Rowntree, as well as working at CCL in Scarborough. He then joined the Ontario Jockey Club working in the standardbred and thoroughbred racing industry. He moved to Windsor Raceway in the '70s, employed as the Starter with the new starting gate.

Gould returned to Milton, Ont. to begin his judging career with the ORC, judging at racetracks across the province of Ontario. He accepted the position of Supervisor of Standardbred Racing with the ORC before he retired to part time judging.

Vic will be sadly missed by his wife Dorothy, children Ashley (Tracy), Vickie (Adam), and Darryl, as well as by his sisters, Jane Prior and Pat Stewart, and their families. He is dearly loved by grandchildren, Tyler, Oliver, Devyn and Chase.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St. Milton 905-878-2669.
